The accidental expat blogger behind LucidBrookLine

Hi, I am Elena
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Rome, Italy.
Not long ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Relocating to Italy wasn’t part of our long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, fresh routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they should be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But slowly, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built LucidBrookLine
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap with practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Is For (And What It Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Italy continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Elena
